I think the original purpose of lanyard beads was to get a better grip on your knife or your keychain when you pull it out of your pocket. But lets face it, most of us are carrying them as some kind of jewelry that makes our keychains more unique!
Beads can be found from a few dollars up to 300 and more! But some of the nicest ones I have seen have been made by forum members out of scrap metal or pieces found in the hardware store. Any kind of metal sleeves, washers, collar nuts, even bike chain links can make a very decent bead already! (For 2 strands of un-gutted paracord I have found that an inner diameter of 3/16 to 1/4 works best.)
There are far too many websites with nice beads to list all of them here so consider this just a selection. I'm sure there are quite a few ones missing that are noteworthy, please let me know about other websites that you know and like!
